What we do

- BBE provides advice on financial transactions, M&A, equity and debt fundraising. Our deals are primarily cross-border with a China focus. We specialise in advising North American and European company owners who want to sell their hard assets or companies to mainland Chinese investors.

Our Team
Kurt Chen
Kurt is Senior Partner of BBE Capital and head of BBE Infrastructure, our energy and infrastructure practice, based in Los Angeles. He has vast expertise in asset management, capital markets, and cross-border relationships. He is a founder of both BBE and also the Global Renewable Energy Association, which specialises in bringing Chinese EPC+F funding into ready-to-build utility scale solar power projects and other large infrastructure projects. Before this he was CEO of an asset M&A advisory company which is an active player in the automotive, renewable energy, aviation industries, providing financial advisory services to major companies in the United States, China and Europe. Having an extensive network with Chinese State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Kurt specializes in seeking out project opportunities for Chinese investors, in evaluating energy and infrastructure projects, and matching up potential financiers for them. Kurt graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a B.S. degree and a M.B.A. degree.
Frederick Stremme
Frederick is Senior Partner of BBE Commodities. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the investment and finance industry. He is currently the Managing Director of TFE Group, a global cross-border investment platform and M&A advisory company. Prior to TFE Frederick has worked in multiple multinational companies in the Investment and M&A sector, including Sky and China-Invest. He has extensive experience in Asia, particularly China, where he was based in Shanghai for a decade. Frederick has a strong client base in the automotive, chemical, engineering, life-science and FMCG industries with a focus on Asia and the Middle East and Europe. Frederick speaks German, English, French and is familiar with Chinese. He studied Law and International Business at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.
John Nevado
John is the New York Partner of BBE Capital. He focuses on the luxury hospitality industry, but also the impact, sustainability and tech sectors. He also runs Nevado Roses, his agriculture business based in South America, a leader in its field employing 750 people with sales in 30+ countries and with blue chip clients including Whole Foods, Marks & Spencer and COOP Switzerland. John was active on the global board for the horticulture industry, Union Fleurs for a couple of years, serving also as their International Ambassador, and he was chosen by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2006. John is also active as an Advisor to Align17, partially owned by UBS, a platform for Family Offices to invest in impact and serves on several corporate boards within the fields of agriculture, breeding, automated flower delivery. He also serves on a number of non-profit boards engaged in the fight against food injustice, HIV/Aids-documentation, and also on the board of a prestigious school in the Hamptons, NY. John studied both at the University of Stockholm, and Johns Hopkins University.
Siu Bun Yuen
Siu-Bun is Managing Partner of BBE Capital and is based in London. He has over 20 years investment banking experience in the City, most recently Goldman Sachs (2005-2019), also JPMorgan Chase, Barclays Capital and Societe Generale, in both trading and sales in fixed income derivatives, covering banks, asset managers and supranationals. BA (Hons) in Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) at Christ Church College, Oxford University. Siu-Bun is Managing Partner of BBE Capital and is based in London. Matt Clearfield
Matthew is a multi-award winning executive with more than fifteen years of experience in Asia and is an Associate Partner of BBE Capital, based in Guangzhou. He was formerly the Associate Director of Natural Resources for Bank of China International, where he specialized in cross border transactions in the mining, infrastructure and energy industries. In 2012, he co-founded Elaixin Holdings, a financial advisory firm, where he advised clients on structuring outbound Chinese investment. From 2017-2019 he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HNA Logistics Group (副监事长), and on the Board of HNA Innovation Ventures, a venture capital fund under one of China’s largest global conglomerates. In addition to China, Matthew has extensive investment and management experience in Mongolia, where he has established or funded multiple businesses in the resources, F&B and retail industries. He has lived in China since 2004 and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
Sunil Kavuri
Sunil is Deputy Managing Partner of BBE Capital and is based in London. He has worked as an investment advisor and corporate financier for over 15 years. Sunil specialises on $100m+ corporate finance transactions advising on F&B, real estate, renewable energy and clean-tech. He started his career in corporate finance before joining the equity derivative strategy desk on the Deutsche Bank’s trading floor in 2005. He went on to work at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan and since 2016 he has invested in cryptocurrencies. Sunil was educated at Rugby School and holds a 1st class BSc Economics degree from the London School of Economics and an MPhil in Finance from the Judge Business School at Cambridge University. He was also awarded the Richard Goeltz Price for graduating in 1st place out of 675 students from the economics department and is also a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
Nick Bancroft Cooke
Nick is Group Managing Partner of the BBE Group and is also a Senior Partner of BBE Capital, based in Lisbon. He has wide ranging business experience in China and has advised Chinese companies making strategic investments abroad and has a proven track record in building successful global companies operating in multiple legal and linguistic environments, and negotiating and closing cross border M&A transactions. He is also a director of Atlantic Partners Asia, a leading deliverable FX and currency solutions provider regulated in Hong Kong and Singapore, which specialises in corporate FX and international payments solutions for its Asian clients. Before moving to Asia in 2005 he was Senior Vice President and a founding director of internet search engine Espotting, a pioneer in pay-for placement internet searches later sold in 2004 to a Nasdaq listed company. Nick holds a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Bristol, and was educated at Eton College.
